Engineering Quad
Landscape Architect: EDAW (Alexandria, VA)
Engineering Quad was constructed in conjunction with the Fitzpatrick Center and is most notable for creating a successful and popular open space on the site through which Science Drive used to run before it was closed at both ends of this project. The Quad has an informal organization that responds to the layout of the surrounding buildings and serves as the eatern terminus point of the West Campus Pedestrianway. It retains functionality as an emergency access "road," while feeling like a pedestrian corridor due to careful detailing and design.
